Orangeburg, S.C. — Palmetto Connect, a program of Palmetto Care Connections, recently hosted three highly successful Digital Literacy training sessions at First Baptist Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina. More than 50 adults participated in the day-long training classes, equipping themselves with vital digital skills and resources to navigate today’s technology-driven world.
These training sessions covered a wide range of essential topics, including digital literacy fundamentals, internet navigation, cybersecurity practices, email basics, telehealth, and health literacy. By addressing these areas, participants gained the knowledge and tools necessary to stay connected, safe, and informed in the digital age.
Thanks to funding from the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance, each participant not only received comprehensive training but also valuable resources to support their continued learning and connectivity. Every attendee was provided with a brand-new tablet, 12 months of cellular internet service for their device, assistance with securing affordable internet services, and 90 days of technical support. These resources ensure that participants can apply their new skills with confidence and ease.
“We’re thrilled with the turnout and the positive impact these training sessions have had on the Orangeburg community,” said Ashlee Parra, Digital Literacy Program Manager of Palmetto Care Connections. “Access to digital literacy and telehealth resources empowers individuals to take control of their health, connect with loved ones, and explore new opportunities.”
Palmetto Connects remains committed to expanding digital literacy and bridging the digital divide across South Carolina. By providing accessible training and essential digital tools, the program continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents statewide.
